Testing and Maintenance

Exit signs and emergency lighting must be tested and discharged at regular intervals, as per the Australian Standards:

6-Monthly: A technician must conduct a 90-minute power drop test.

Annually: A technician must perform a 90-minute power drop test.

Types of Emergency Lighting

There are three distinct types of emergency lighting available:

Sustained: These lights have two lamps within the fitting, but only one operates at a time.

Maintained: Featuring a single lamp, these lights stay illuminated regardless of whether there is mains power or a power failure.
